Musical Time Machine is an educational and entertainment program whose goal is to educate the public about the artistic, technical, and cultural importance of music, to establish musical collaborations, and to have a good time along the way.
In the Musical Time Machine, you have the opportunity to see collectible vinyl records, listen to them, and compare them with other media—CDs, cassette tapes, and MP3s.
Before the MP3 revolution, YouTube, CDs, and cassette tapes, music distribution was represented by the vinyl record. Initially, it had a modest playback time of 3–5 minutes, which was later extended to 26 minutes through technological advancements. Since a record has two sides, this gives it a total capacity of 52 minutes. Such a record was called a Long Play (LP). In addition to the music, special attention is also given to the covers, which feature their own graphic design and typography. The LP thus became an Album Record, and graphic design became the Album Cover—terms that are still used in digital music distribution.
Classical music appeared on the first albums, followed by jazz. The rise of the album in the music industry began with The Beatles, and the 1970s are considered the golden era of the album, when the music industry exploded and even surpassed Hollywood.
